With some estimates saying that personal care and beauty products account for 1/3 of all landfill waste, the beauty industry can be pretty ugly. Here’s how you can recycle your product packaging correctly and safely, as well as ways to decrease your waste in the first place!
Awhile back, I wrote a post on my mini e.l.f. haul. After using most of the products, I’ve decided its time to review this undereye setting powder. I was super excited to try it (especially at only $3) so this is my honest review of the product.
At first glance, the packaging was simple and minimalistic which I love. The jar itself is small but packs a-lot of product in it.
For $3, I wasn’t expecting miracles but I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of product in the jar. It says its supposed to include a brush but I never received one in my package so… that was kind of a bummer. Instead, I just used my small oval brush to apply the setting powder.
I will say that if you have extra dry skin like I do, you definitely want to make sure you moisturize the undereye area VERY well. Otherwise, this powder is gonna cake and look like a hot mess on ya. Not that I learned that from experience or anything.. 😉
Also, the powder itself is SUPER white!! I’m not sure this would work for all skin-tones. You’re definitely gonna need to blend and then blend some more. I also take a damp beauty blender sponge and just go over my entire face to pick up any excess product as a final touch.
There is a touch of shimmer in the product which, if applied with a heavy hand, can make you look very glittery. I’m assuming they added the shimmer for a brightening effect but I’m not really convinced it was necessary. I feel like my e.l.f. brightening concealer does a better job with that AND without the shimmer.
Overall, I’d say it’s not a terrible product. I don’t regret spending $3 on it but not sure that I would repurchase. It definitely does a good job of keeping my bottom liner from spreading/melting onto my face which I like and as long as I moisturize it doesn’t cake on me either.
Overall Satisfaction Rating: 3/5 Stars
Packaging: 4/5 Stars
Amount of Product: 5/5 Stars
Blendability: 2/5 Stars (It’s blendable but you have to blend A-LOT to get the white of the powder gone)
Easy to Use: 4/5 Stars
Would Repurchase?: Probably not
Have you guys ever tried this product? Thoughts? What other under-eye setting powders are budget friendly that you guys would recommend I give a whirl?
Instagram makeup artists decided instead of creating the sharpest cat eyes they should do something similar with crystals for a more sophisticated elegant look. Since then crystals in the makeup industry soon grew into the huge trend it is today with people showing creative different ways they could use them to enhance their natural beauty […]
I love, love, love Pixi Beauty. Ever since using their Glow Tonic, I’ve become a bit obsessed. This post will feature some of the products on my wish-list for Pixi Beauty. Read on! =)
This Pixi Rose Caviar Essence has been on my wish-list for months and months! Not only is the packaging adorbs, but I have a big problem when it comes to serums. I love them. I have super dry skin so anything that helps make my skin feel soft and smooth is a MUST for me.
This Pixi Rose Oil Blend is another similar product to the serum. I guess I have an obsession with roses? =P The product claims to help with skin’s elasticity and glowyness so I’d be curious to see if it lives up to the hype. It would definitely be a little overpriced for just a moisturizer if there weren’t any added benefits. With that being said, however, I am very keen to try this!
The Pixi by Petra+Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse is a coveted item among many beauty gurus. I’ve always been intrigued by the process of double cleansing but have always been hesitant to try it because of my skin being uber dry. This being a cleansing oil and a cream cleanser intrigues me as both those would (I would assume) be beneficial to dry skin.
The Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz are colors that are right up my alley! I love mineral makeup and these colors look amazing. I love that these shades have a bit of shimmer to them and they look like they’d glide on like butter. Not to mention, $12 is a STEAL for an eyeshadow palette.
Last but not least, this Pixi Lash Line Ink looks like the type of eyeliner I would be all over! I love doing wings and my preferred eyeliner is a felt-tip pen as I have more control over it vs a liquid liner brush. I just love the look of this and would love to try it.
Have any of you lovelies tried any of Pixi’s products before? Any that I haven’t mentioned that you would recommend? I’m hoping to purchase a few of these so that I can do reviews later on down the line with them. We shall see!! As always, stay beautiful guys! =D
I just got my e.l.f. package in the mail and I am SO excited to try some of the products!! I spent over $25 and got a free gift which is great. However, I didn’t realize one of the items in the free gift is a repeat of one of the items I purchased (meh!!). But without further ado, here it is!!
The first product is the Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths, 2 Pack which retails for $5. Each package comes with 40 remoistened wipes. Now listen guys, I realize face wipes aren’t the best as far as taking care of your skin. But you cannot deny how handy they are! I keep a package in the bathroom AND by my bedside for nights where I get off late and just need something quick to take my makeup off my face. I also keep a package in my purse if I crash at a friend’s house and don’t want to use their products. I haven’t tried the e.l.f. brand of these before but I’m super excited to try them out!
The next product I purchased is the Beautifully Bare Lightweight Concealer Stick in the shade Light/Medium which retails for $4. I forgot to take a picture swatching it but it’s a lot more on the medium side then the light.. I’m concerned it might be too dark for my skin but I will review this in more detail once I use it!
Next up is the Long Wear Baked Highlighter in the shade Moonlight Pearls which retails for $4. This is the item I received two of as one was included in the free gift. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this highlighter. Some say it’s the holy grail, others… not so much. I can tell just from swatching it (which again.. no photo..whoops) that it’s definitely going to take a few uses to really show. You have to scrape off layers to even get to the actual product which is weird (and one review even said this would happen) but I’m still excited to see how it will end up looking once I get to the good layer!
Next, I also purchased the Instant Lift Brow Pencil is Neutral Brown which retails for $2. Now, I realize that perhaps it won’t be the best brow pencil since it is so cheap. However, I don’t really “do” my brows. I just like to fill in the sparse areas now and again. The color seems a little dark but nothing blending won’t fix!
My free gift for spending $25 included the Baked Highlighter, the Compact Power Blush Palette ($6) in Light and the High Definition Under-Eye Setting Powder ($3). I’m most excited to try the setting powder as I definitely do up my eyes more than anything. The blush palette is pretty but the colors are a little too bright for my tastes. Still, I’ll see if I can’t incorporate it into a look sometime soon!
Last but not least… I also spent a little bit of money and got myself the Illuminating Eye Cream ($10) because I was in desperate need of one! I’m not sure what this will do for the little crow’s feet starting to form around my eyes but I am hoping the brightening effects will at least let me dark circles look less, well…dark! I will do a review for you guys on that product soon!
Have you guys tried any of these products before? What’s your favorite e.l.f. product? Let me know in the comments below and always remember to stay beautiful! =D

Yellow eyeshadow seems to be all the rage, but even though I love the look, I’m a bit yellow-bellied when it comes wearing it myself – here are 3 different yellow eyeshadow looks that will hopefully help me overcome my fear!
Hey guys!! Just wanted to give a shout-out to TJ Maxx. I always forget how cool their beauty section can actually be; and usually very reasonable. This time, I only found a couple of things but I was also in a rush since I had my kiddo with me. However, I’m excited to try out some new products. Here’s the laydown so far.
I found these neat little Shea Butter Lip Masks; they were like $3 for 5. I gave one to my sister to try. I’ve been intrigued by lip masks and I absolutely LOVE Shea Butter so I’m super excited to try this out.
Sorry for the blurry photo!! This is a Hydrate facial serum from VALJEAN LABS. You can get this product at Urban Outfitters for $15… or you can go to TJ Maxx and get it for 1/2 the price. The jar is made entirely of glass (super fannnncy) and the serum is blue-colored in the bottle. I’m super stoked to try this! Dry skin is NOT fannnncy so maybe this will actually help? They also have other serums like Clarify, Restore, and Glow. I’ll try the Restore next time!
This product I actually got from CVS but wanted to throw it in. It’s the Physician’s Formula Butter Highlighter. I’ve already tested this product. The pros are that the highlighter smells like a really good cocoa butter/sunscreen scent. It has a TON of pigment (the photo doesn’t really do it justice… it SHINES) and is easily affordable. HOWEVER, the color I purchased was Rose Gold. I think this was a tad too dark for my skin-tone. I noticed when I applied it, it looked like a really bad contour job. I had to blend and blend and even sweep some away with a wet wipe and by that point, there really wasn’t any highlight left to be noticeable. It didn’t look that dark in the canister but I think next time, I’ll go with the Pearl or the Pink color.
All-in-all, I’m excited about my purchases and will definitely do separate reviews for the lip masks and serum soon.
Any of you beauties have any hauls lately? Would love to hear about them in the comments!! Stay beautiful. =D
Hey lovelies!! So, as someone who emphasizes my eyes more than any other feature, it got me wondering about what your favorite eyeliner style is? I generally do a winged look (and I will feature photos in other blog posts eventually) but it doesn’t always work out the way I want. I prefer a felt-tipped pen vs a liquid liner as I feel more steady with a felt-tip then I do with a tiny little brush.
I have been getting into liquid lipsticks lately but I try and reserve the bolder colors for night out. Having said that, I still definitely enjoy playing up my eyes the most as I actually really love my eyes and making them pop.
How I wish my eyeliner looked (a girl can dream)!!
A chart of different styled winged eyeliner for different eye types. I have hooded eyes so sometimes getting that perfect wing shape is difficult for me.
What’s your favorite feature to play up? Let me know in the comments below!!
*Disclaimer: None of these photos are mine nor do I claim credit for any of them. I simply used them to enhance the article and to give examples of different eyeliner looks so my readers could understand the blog post better.
I am a huge eyeshadow fan.. I accentuate my eyes more then any other facial feature. I have an ever-growing palette collection so I thought I’d feature some of my most used and most favorite ones. You’ll be able to see by the photos that some are used quite heavily. I didn’t bother cleaning up around the edges because I prefer real beauty. Real beauty INCLUDES showing products lived in (i.e. used). Enjoy!!
First, I’d like to talk about BH Cosmetic’s Solar Flare palette. This is a GORGEOUS palette and retails for $15.99. You can pick it up for cheaper if you follow their sales cycles. I think when I purchased mine it was 13.99 and came with a free brush set. Score!! This palette has amazingly rich colors (my favorites being galactic and heat and gamma ray). Fallout is minimal but definitely use a primer before applying these shadows. My photos don’t do this palette justice, but trust me, these colors POP!
Secondly, Be by BubzBeauty which retails for $14.50 is a much used palette. It’s got great neutral colors that are appropriate for the work environment with some fun little colors for evening. Blendable, buildable, and as you can tell from the photo, definitely heavily used!
Third, Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette which retails for $36 is AMAZEBALLS. If you aren’t familiar with too faced products, their palettes smell like candy! It’s exhilarating. I love this palette because its compact and adorable. Plus, it comes with a great little looks card giving you examples of different looks you can create with their shadows. Now, this was definitely a little out of my comfort zone as I don’t tend to wear very bright colors like what’s featured in this palette. However, I scored it for super cheap on one of their sales and ended up LOVING it!!
Last but not least, PUR Love Your Selfie 2 Palette which retails for $42 is one of my newest additions to my family. Now, you might be looking at the price wondering “how is this a budget palette?”. Well, normally, it isn’t. However, I was able to snag it on clearance at a local Kohl’s department store for the ridiculous price of $8.40!! This palette is amazing not only because of the shadows it contains, but also because it comes with a mascara, lip crayon AND lip-gloss which makes it an amazing value. I especially like the highlight color (overexposed) and the lip crayon is quite pretty. (Sorry..my flash decided to go off in this photo so doesn’t show the colors quite well!!)
There you have it!! I’ll eventually go into more in depth review on each palette individually but I do hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know which are some of your favorite palettes and any comments you might have for me. Stay beautiful lovelies!
*note.. I realize I have a CARGO palette featured in the first photo. This was the ALOHA palette which was beautiful but currently no longer available. I didn’t feel right featuring it as I wouldn’t be able to provide a link to purchase it. Apologies!!*
